What types of Hauntings are there?

Residual
     Residual energy is just that, energy that is left over from an event played out on the atmosphere repeatedly. It can be likened to burnt toast that pervades the atmosphere or environment or a record stuck on one particular groove where it plays and replays repeatedly. There is no conscious interaction with the living. Nor is there any awareness. This type of energy can dissipate given time and eventually fade away.

Hauntings
     This is the life force energy of a particular person or place. Unlike residual energy that has no conscious interaction with the living, this is a conscious interaction with the living. The living may feel cold spots, hear rappings and bangs, hear voices, see visions of what happened in that particular place or see the particular person that has since crossed over.
     There is some speculation that the word "Haunting" is a misnomer. There are said to be different planes or existence or dimensions that may cross over one another or overlap one another. The "Ghosts" may be able to see and hear us and interact with the living. "Ghosts" can't do harm to the living.


Poltergeists
     This word derives from the German word for "Noisy Ghost." This is the most dangerous type of negative spiritual energies. These types of ghosts can not only interact with the living,they can actually physically,emotionally, and psychologically harm the living.This type of negative energy can actually feed off the negative human emotions,such as fear and anger,and hatred to enable itself to replenish its energies. Objects can be thrown, loud noises or bangs and crashes that cannot be repeated can be heard. People can be "possessed" or not act like themselves for a certain amount of time.

SHOULD YOU YOURSELF TRY TO RID YOURSELF OR YOUR ENVIRONMENT OF A POLTERGEIST?

     NO, Under no circumstances should you attempt this! There are professional officials in the Catholic Church(i.e. Exorcists).Native Americans would call in a shaman,everybody else would call in a professional team of ghost hunters to document all the information and record it and make its recommendation based on the evidence that they collect such as EVP's or EMF.EVP's are electronic voice phenomenon and EMF is electronic Magnetic Fields.
     With a poltergeist situation where the living feel threatened with bodily or psychological harm,get out of the offending area until a licensed ghost hunting team can be assembled to study the phenomena and based on scientific evidence, make a recommendation.
     Poltergeist activity is usually stirred up by any recent changes or renovations of an area. An example would be building over an old Native American graveyard or an American battlefield.It can be triggered by simply renovating an old house. These types do not like their environment changed in any way,shape,or form. A good Medium or psychic can allow the offending spirits to go on towards the"Light" as many spirits feel they are trapped by what they did in life or how the circumstances of how they died.
