I
share my digs with two old prostitute ghosts,” Olga” and “Heidi”.
My house had been previous to 1942 the bar and ice house area. A fire
reduced it to ashes. An Irish gentlemen then bought 4 or 5 “Crib
units” of D Street, the Old Prostitution Alley, and put them up
as rental “bungalows.” The twisted remains of the iron doors
and the lintels of the original doors can still be seen in my backyard.
The bar faced B street so no one could see who came and went. The ice
house is where my hose sits now.
I was first aware of my “roommates” when all of my boyfriends,
save one, told me that they would never ever set foot in my bedroom
again. They said it was “creepy” and all of them said the
same thing that they were all awakened by a heavyset, older woman with
her hair done up in the 19th century way dressed in a white peasant
blouse and a German “Dirndl” skirt. She would poke them vigorously
and stare down into their faces. “Heidi” is the nickname for
the other one. When I was doing my history thesis on prostitution and
its economic effects and I had access to the old records of prostitution
in Virginia City, there was a record of a girl that lived with the “Big
German” a nickname given to a woman that exactly matches “Olga‘s.”
When northern Nevada Spirit Seekers came to the house to investigate,
Lisa Reyna did a photo outside the house in broad daylight on the northern
side of the house by the kitchen door. On the film was a long wraith
like streak coming out the door. Lisa tried in vain to recreate the
streak without success. We came back at night to do the investigation
and got some EVP. This is what we got.
