Piper's
Opera House, B Street, Virginia City, Nevada
The Jekyll and Hyde Show
August 26, 2006
Built
after burning down three seperate times, once in 1863, once in the Great
Fire of 1875 and this one was finally rebuilt in 1885.
Erected by John Piper in 1885,this was
the third in a succession of theatres that He operated on the Comstock
in Virginia City, Nevada. It still contains its original scenery, raged
stage ,(adding depth and three dimensionality. It is only one of three
left that have raked stages ,the others being Fords Theatre, and
one in London. It still has its elegant proscenium boxes. It is a remarkable
structure where many 19 nth century artists Walked the boards
Lisa
Reyna, of Northern Nevada Spirit Seekers placed EVP monitors in the
upper proscenium boxes. There were two interesting EVPs One was
that of a female saying Do You want to? and still another where
a voice was saying I am going to kill it Often times prostitutes
would ply their trade in the upper boxes belonging to the more wealthy
male clientele of that day. I suppose that they felt unabashed enough
to speak freely there. The first EVP could be a prostitute asking the
client about her services and the other could refer to a woman telling
another girl about an unwanted pregnancy and what she intended to do
about it.
Piper's
Opera House EVPs
These 3 EVPs were taken up in the left side of the stage.
