Saint
Mary's Art Center
Virginia City, Nevada
The
grounds of Saint Marys sits on the site of what used to be a popular
drinking spot by the name of Von Bokklens Beer Garden.. When Joseph
Von Bokklen died in 1873 Louise Mackay bought it deeded it to the Sisters
Of Charity for an orphanage which later became a hospital for miners
with repertory problems like silicoses contracted from Granite dust
from working in the mines of Virginia City, Nevada and girls who had
contracted venereal diseases like syphilis and other maladies not mentioned
in polite company and a hospital for general illness. The third floor
was for patients that had mental diseases. There is a story based in
fact about a nurse that tried to get her patients to safety during the
fire, but lost her life trying. There must have been a crippled child
that She could not get to in time as the ghosts of this valiant lady
and her precious crippled child patient have been seen at night walking
down the front steps together hand in hand. This is an amazing place
to see. I have been here at least 4 times and get great EVP each time.
Here are some of them.
I have been here alone about three times and every time I have been
able to get good EVP, This is one place you can investigate over and
over again. Lots of activity and lots of spirits. Our team will be doing
an overnight trip here in the next few months.
